In no particular order, we love summer, taking care of our earth and herbs. From day to day, we use herbs for remedies, savoury food garnishes and spiritual purposes.

The last weekend in July is mid-summer. This is one of the best weather weeks of the year. We hopefully hope to continue our record of 24 years without rain.

Our venue will include vendors, displays, demonstrations, music, crafts, children’s activities, food and drink concessions.

Waba Cottage Museum and Gardens has a collection of five historic museum buildings nestled in 8 acres of lovely gardens on the scenic shore of White Lake An ancient Scottish Clan Chief ruled the roost here with an iron fist. Laird Archibald McNab brought over settlers and subjugated them to medieval feudal terms for almost 20 years.

Our vintage buildings have their stories. The stone house echoes Archibald’s reign of error. The log church, school house, dairy barn and display building offer unique insights into the daily lives of our early residents.

In the 1970s, whale bones were discovered within 2 kilometres of our location. Today, these are important clues in a 2019 breaking news story that spans 12,000 years. New theories about comet strikes, melting ice caps, inland polar oceans, continental wildfires, mass extinctions of man, mammoths and other large mammals are attributed to this ‘bad day’.

The museum is open Fri.- Mon. 10-4:30 until Thanksgiving

Here’s some directions. Take 417 to Arnprior’s Exit 184 and go south on White Lake Rd. about 12 minutes until you come to the 4 corners in White Lake.

Turn right or west on Burnstown Road and go a kilometre. You’ll find us beside the lake.

During the demo the Herb Garden will demonstrate how easy it is to cook with herbs by making an easy Chipotle-Lime Chimichurri sauce that can be used on nearly anything!

Using fresh herbs is one of the easiest (and cheapest) ways to take a dish from basic to gourmet. But for most, incorporating fresh herbs can be daunting. We will show you how easy it is to add a ton of flavour to your meals and as a bonus there are significant health benefits when you cook with fresh herbs.
